The final leg! The model is complete, so now its time to paint the crew.

First, I used Citadel Dryad Bark to cover the uniforms of the loaders and the officer’s pants.

Next, I used Citadel Wraithbone to fill in the flesh areas (faces, hands, nape of neck, etc).

Then, I used Vallejo Flat Earth to hit the belts. I forgot to take a photo but I also used Vallejo black to get the caps and cleanup the boots (as well as the officer’s pistol holster). The officer’s jacket was done in Vallejo Russian Uniform WWII (again no photo - my bad!)

Then the magic - Citadel Contras Guilliman Flesh to do the skin. This has become my go-to for “white” skintones, quick and easy.

Finally - go back and touch up any stray colors, paint lines, etc.

Sticking the crew in the SU-76 was a bit of work, but the results are great!

I’m looking forward to getting this thing out there with the rest of my 28mm Russians - something about open topped vehicles really “speaks” to me (though bloody hell I would not have wanted to crew one - I’m not surprised Soviet soldiers had a rude nickname for this thing).

Maybe the next Slice to Finished series will feature an Axis vehicle, I currently only have Soviets in 28mm (though I have owned Germans in the past). I dont really want to do Jerries again - maybe something “weirder” like Ostfront Italians or Slovaks….hmmm….
